Mobile is HOT HOT HOT!!! We needed to cool down. So off to the nearest grocery store we went and we found water balloons. I could not resist picking up a few packages.
At first I had the boys throw the water balloons at each other. We found a shady spot to avoid sun spots in the images. In the images below you can see this was fun but I didn't get the results I was hoping for. The water splash in the face! Camera settings for these images Shutter speed 1/500 F4 ISO 400
So next I had them hold the water balloons in their hands and squeeze.
This was closer to the results I was looking for. I wanted to try a few more but attentions spans were short. So I put the camera away, we all armed ourselves and the war was on. You can also see in the set of images above the difference in the sun light from the images in the first set. The second set of images a cloud was covering the sun creating a natural light box.
After lunch and I put the youngest down for a nap. Ollie and I went back out to try one more time to get a good splash in the face shot. Success!
What I used to get the shots
- Canon 5D Markiii (settings 1/500 F4 ISO400)
- Lens, Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS
- Water balloons
- Two willing adorable children
- Location, my back yard in a shady spot under the trees
- Minor adjustments in Lightroom
