Walking down the rocky, muscle covered beach as the sun rose this day is an experience I will never forget. As I scrambled over the terrain the muscles were spitting at me. The sunrise was producing some intense colors. It was a breathtaking morning! Now you too can enjoy the calm beauty of a Kodiak, Alaska sunrise. Minus the muscles spitting at you.

On Kodiak, during the winter the Bald Eagles are like pigeons. They are everywhere especially down by the fishing boats. I found this guy feeding off scraps left on a fishing net. He didn't seem to worry too much about me approaching him, but he did keep an eye on me.

There is an island in the middle of Women's Bay in Kodiak, Alaska. Well... sometimes there is an island when the tide is high. On a rare snowy afternoon, I caught the sun rising over the view.
Overlooking the town and harbor of Kodiak sits these loud yet entertaining sea lions. The gals were chatting as they basked in the warm sun. Then the general made his grand appearance and barked a few orders.
One of my favorite things during the winter was going hunting for interesting ice formations. More often than not they were in impossible to get to locations and I would be unable to photograph them. This day after a short hike to the lake I scored! One of my peronal favorite images.
Close your eyes and take a deep breath. As that breath leaves you, picture a field of stars hanging high above you. A wall of darkness gives a false security that you can touch and hold the luminous points in the sky. Feel all the troubles of earth drift away as you gaze upon the beauty that is actually immense distances from you. Now open your eyes the image that was in your head can hang on your wall for you to escape into anytime you want.
